Happy day to you!...this is the very beginning of what I plan on being "Why Do Wednesdays"...basically a place to hash out thoughts and ideas regarding the why of things...it is a handy and luscious little prompt that presents countless opportunities to really dig into a ginormous bevy of topics...so much topics...so much amazing...
Today's "why" is admittedly lackluster but hopefully I can buff and shine a bit of sparkle into it anyway...I feel like our first why should be-
Why do you think it makes sense to use a planner?
This is a question that I hear pretty often...at the same time I hear "so what do you think would work best in terms of . . . Or, "I just have no idea where to begin". . . dot...dot...dot...we almost always reach outside of ourselves for the opinion and validation of others, either directly or indirectly...the interaction and the grounding of spreading your task out among those you trust is natural and expected...some of us are lucky enough to have gifted people close to us that can spark a fiery treasure trove of ideas and ways to implement a theme...and some of us are met with something different altogether...there is no option that is "bad" or "less"...there is only a difference between how some minds work compared to others...why use a planner?...because we generally aim to make every part of what you experience be seamless, beautiful, and at least 73% more than what you never knew you always wanted...
Let's lay out the angles between natural planners and what I like to call "seekers"...some of us cook up a complete spectacle of wonder and pizzazz without even skipping a beat...it is innate, unstoppable, and completely automatic...there is like an epic production of Broadway-on-crack proportions that unfurls and cascades down every single potential detail from the second the notion enters your brain-and you can literally sashay along with the tiny little worker confetti as they place and prod and present this moving charade of awesomeness...it is a veritable explosion and sometimes it is hard to keep up with the ideas...grander, lovelier, bigger-it is so easy to "Sparky" (Clark W. Griswold) the situation and make it wayyyyyy more than it ever could be or needs to be...other times, it takes quiet reflection and wonder...what is this, who is this, why is this...for me, there is a particular signature spin in there as well...I always joke that it is the Leo in me, the booming hiss of my core that screams about being original...be unique...custom...create something no one has ever seen before...go big or go-...well, bigger...
It is a challenge to be original in today's world...there is so much thinking, so much doing, and we document it all with the billowy golden edges of countless filters...our ability as people to bring this much to the things we touch is awe inspiring...but also difficult...how can I paint this thing beautifully without using someone else's brush...there is nothing wrong with that brush, not at all...it is warm, and carved meticulously with love, and proven to be delectable...but it isn't mine...and since it isn't mine I feel like it can't really, in turn, be what I give you...
I draw inspiration from a lot of different things...I think it's endless-the things that can reach us and speak to us and mold us...I like to bring a little of who I am to everything that I do...it might be glaring or it may be the smallest most tender nugget of infusion-but it is always there...I suppose it is arrogant and self-serving in a way, sure...but then again-isn't it nifty? ;}
